Bamboozler Burn
Spray Paint/Acrylic on Posterboard
Transformus was
more awesome than I could have hoped. This was my first
Transformus and also my first burn experience. That made me
doubly a virgin attendee. After getting my rightful spankings
and floggings at the greeter station, to honor my status,
I
camped with the Sweaty Virgin Camp.
We
had a large community kitchen, Groove Lounge, occasional
swimming pool (tarp filled with rain during severe storms -
accidental) and I set up "UngaBunga John's" bar there. Southern
Buddha was our host and along with Maya, Snakechaser, D, .z.o.e.
and everyone else pitched in and
made a terrific camp. We were camped across from the Fire
Keepers - Thump Thump Thump - all night long! Great fire
performers and wonderful drumming came from the other side of
the street from my tent.
The Bamboozler fell twice once on
Friday During the Big Storm and again in the Saturday wee hours
storm I think So we waited until just before the burn, got
him to his knees so we could set him alight. It seemed like Gulliver's
travels where he was being held down by the little people - only
in reverse. It was a wet but fantastic weekend. I met the
coolest people and participated through volunteer activity like
parking badger was just myself and 'Pink' Saturday from 9am to Noon (really turned out to
be after 1:30 we wre relieved by Sparrow the lead badger and took untill about 2pm to make it back to my
camp). I also brought a bar "UngaBunga John's", and gave away
drinks after the burn on into the early morning. On Sunday
morning from about sunrise until about 10am off and on - I gave
away Tequila and
Sangrita at my Sunrise Tequila Bar, turning a lot of people
onto 'Tequila Completo' (a Mexican version of a bloody Mary). I
met a lot of terrific people from all over the place. I gifted a
large bucket of paints and a 66lb. roll of primed 57" wide
canvas between 28 and 35 yards that was used as part of a
scrolling
"Legal Wall" for graffitification. I just hope whatever was left
over (canvas) after I left Sunday becomes something wonderful in
the future maybe at another burn event. Early Saturday I made
sure that I wrote my hopes in the temple, since I would not be
here for the temple burn on Sunday night.
Now, to get ready for the
BurningMan Festival August 28-Sept 4 2006 in the Nevada
Desert. It looks like I'm driving out and back. Taking the
southern route Via I-40 by Meteor Crater, G-Canyon, Boulder Dam
(To take dam pictures of course) Las Vegas then up hwy95 toward
Black Rock City. On the way home I'll take the northern route
past Salt Lake City, Denver, Jefferson City (to see my Grandma)
and then down toward I -75 and home.
Maybe we can have coffee as I pass through.
I have a suspicion that these events may significantly change the way I see the world and with that I hope open my creative side to a rejuvenated flow of ideas. I think the Transformus has already had an impact on me.
